Heather Lake

So my oldest friend Jesse and I have decided to try to go on at least one hike a week. Washington has SO many great hikes, so snow and all we made our way up to Heather lake last Monday. I'm not gonna lie, I was freezing! I'm not a huge fan of hiking in the snow but the pay off was so amazing. It was so beautiful. The snow has started to melt away from the lake creating these beautiful carved out snow islands. The lake was so at peace. It was so quiet you almost didn't want to disturb the silence. You notice every thing that moves. Like a duck landing in the stillness of the lake. And of course my crazy dog Manny going nuts in the snow...
The snow is pretty fragile, so when Manny would get these bursts of energy and take off running he would slip or a foot would sink in to the snow and he would nose dive face first into the snow. It made me giggle on more than one occasion. I was a little worried he would slide into the lake. But he seamed to recover just in time. I think Joshua was a little disappointed he didn't end up in the lake.
My friend Jesse has a knack for falling into water. If there is water he will most likely end up in it. So there was a ridge that you had to cross to get to a board walk that was partly exposed. He fell going and coming and gave us all a good giggle. I captured it on video. Hopefully I can figure out how to put it up on my blog cause it's pretty funny! Joshua, Manny and our mutual friend Aaron came along for the journey. I was so happy that Joshua decided to come along! I think our little group my grow this summer when the weather gets nicer.
I am so excited about the hikes we will be doing this summer! Not only will this help us get into shape but the places we will see! There are ghost towns, amazing waterfalls, glaciers, ice caves, beautiful lakes, huge tree's, and breath taking look outs. This must sound stupid to some people but to me there is just nothing better! There is this peace I get when I am on top of a mountain that I have never felt any where else. It is raw beauty, it is simple, it is rewarding like some how you earned it and yet your in awe because you know you don't deserve such beauty. It is like some how you climbed high enough to get close to God. Every thing else is stripped away. It is quiet and if God is speaking to you there is no way your going to miss it. There are no distractions. Just you, God and the mountain.
