Megan, Joshua and I set out at the butt crack of 9 am to go fishing. We stopped at McDaniel's to get some lures and then the triangle shop to get our fishing license. We made our way down to the river bank for some shore humpy fishing. I caught the first fish. I absolutely love fishing! There is just nothing like it! I caught my first fish when I was about 3 years old in my grandparents pond, on my orange snoopy pole. I will never forget it. It is probably my first vivid child hood memories. I was so excited I forgot to real it in and started running with my pole trying get my rainbow trout on to the shore. I can still hear my Dad yelling Heather real it in! My Dad taught me how to cast in our driveway. He tied a bolt nut to the end of my line and I would sit out in the drive way and cast for hours. I eventually graduated to a bigger pole. My Great Grandpa had a boat we would take out on the river when humpy's were running. It was painted pink so we called it the humpy boat. I don't know why he painted it pink. What ever works I guess. There is a peculiar story about that boat. The story goes like this, he built that boat in his basement when they lived in Nebraska. The whole town knew he couldn't get that boat out of the house. But he had it all figured out. In the middle of the night when every one was asleep he took the long slender window out and slide the boat through the hole. Put the window back and in the morning people were scratching their heads. I saw the window when I went for a visit with my Grandma. It does not look like that boat or any boat for that matter could fit through that window. So I grew up fishing but it just never gets old. When that fish bit down on my hook it was like it was my first time. Every time that fish took off away from shore it would make me giggle like a little girl. The next 2 fish I happened to catch as well. Poor Joshua and Megan got skunked. We decided to take a lunch break at Jake's. We threw our lines back in for another hour. But didn't have any luck.
