Joshua and I have been meeting with this small group of married couples for several months. The group is structured around a book we all decide to read and discuss. Most of our topics surround the church today and is it reaching society. We discuss ways to connect with different groups of people, what works and what does not work today vs historically. It is such an interesting topic and has so many avenues. The church I go to is pretty small. As far as people my age in the church, well your looking at them. There are about 5 couples. The fact is people my age don't go to church. I guess it's partly the place in life we are in. My friends are starting family's and carers and well partying. That and the reputation for the church has changed. People used to respect you more if you went to church. It meant that you were a good person. Now if you go to church people say things like "that's great if you need that kind of thing" like you can't make your own decisions in life, so you go some where that will tell you how to live right. Your thought of as weak and ignorant. Then there are the people who have been treated terribly by Christians or the church. What a mess we have made of the bride. The world is changing. We live in a different time. But that doesn't mean we hide in churches scared of the changing world with all those bad people in it! What is the point in that? People are not going to come to us. We have to place our selves in their lives, love them, truly care about them. Not just to get them to say a 5 second prayer so they are "saved" and then your done. These people of the "world" are real people, some live better lives then we do in the church on Sunday. OK I will get off my soap box. I get so fired up over this!
