There is just no better way to beat the heat than floating the river! Joshua and I invited about 20 people over for breakfast before we met at the bottom of Snoqualmie falls. Another great Monday to go down in the history books! We were off to a perfect start every one had their floats, coolers were full of beverages and snacks, we were properly rubbed down with sun screen, I was happily taking pictures with my water proof camera, all was good... The only thing every one forgot, was me! There I was still on the river bank while every one was happily floating away. Randi bless her heart yelled "Heather jump on" and away we went two people on a on man tube. Every thing was fine for about 10 seconds when we hit our first of many rapids. Our tube flipped, Randi landed on a rock and I got sucked down with nothing but my hat to hold on to through the first five rapids or so till I caught up with the big tube. Kirk grabbed my hand but not before we hit another set of rapids. The only problem now was I was pinned underneath the tube with 6 passengers on it. Chris and Kirk finally got me up on the the big tube and to safety. Can I just say being pinned between a raft with 6 + people on it and rocks while swiftly going down rapids is not something I recommend for any one. Thank God for hard lemon aid and jello shots. We stopped at the first sand bar to pumped up rafts and hung out in the sun and sand for a while. Finally we pushed off again. The next sand bar we reached with out any trouble. This one had a great rope swing across the river. It was a grueling swim but so worth it. We spent some time on the rope swing, enjoyed a few jello shots and sandwiches and then continued on. I have been told that it should only take about 4 or 5 hours to float the Snoqualmie. I think we did it in 10. Must have been the hour long pit stops. By the time we got to the end we were freezing cold, water logged, starving and exhausted!
